Glum St Georges Day A couple of Glum Councillors celebrate Englands National Day: Firstly we see a mournful Cllr Iain Lindley from Walkden and Little Hulton. In a page from his diary Cllr Lindley claims to be “delighted” to see St. Georges School has been saved from closure … err…not looking too delighted here Cllr Ian, a newspaper picture of the schools headteacher is a better guide to what delight really looks like. Secondly meet London Borough of Newham’s Mayor Robin Wales with the English flag. Confusingly Sir Robin is neither English, nor in fact Welsh, but is a proud Scot … this may explain why he has a glassy eyed grimace as he poses with, but does not touch, the Cross of St George in this official photograph. Happy St Georges Day… look out for dragons.
