Cllr Hicks and the Alien Ballerina
Todays Metro Newspaper reveals the poignant tale of Winchester Councillor Adrian Hicks and his unrequited sighting of a female dressed in a tutu … from another planet.
Many newspapers carry a “missed encounter” column, where people whose eyes met fleetingly across a busy street or crowded train, attempt to seek out the person they were too shy to talk to on first sight.
Glum Cllr Hicks has pined for five years brooding on a missed opportunity with an ”alien ballerina” who he saw “shuffle along the pavement in a penguin-like walk, wearing only a white ballet outfit and broad smile.” ”She was a humanoid walking with a penguin-like gait,” he explained. Like many a romantic encounter or first date the initial meeting with the alien was beneath the city’s Guildhall clock.
“She was human enough to get away with it,’ he added, thoughtfully.
Two years ago Cllr Hicks, was elected to serve the constituents of the St John and All Saints ward of Highcliffe, St Giles Hill, Bar End and Winnall, and is human enough to get away with it.
